The Internship Programme at FES Kenya

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung Kenya Office offers paid full-time internships for three months to interested students. This role is designed to provide practical experience in project management within an international political foundation. The intern works closely with Programme Coordinators & Programme Officers to support the implementation of activities promoting social democracy, youth engagement, and social justice.

Periods:

The Kenya Office endeavours to receive interns quarterly, with each internship running for a maximum of 3 months for both Kenyan and International Students. Each year, the Kenya office hosts one German intern who completes their internship in tandem with a Kenyan counterpart. 

The deadlines for applications are as follows:

  • February – April or March – May (Deadline for applications is 15th of December the previous year)

  • May – July or June – August (Deadline for applications is March 15th of the current year)

  • July – September or August – October ((Deadline for applications is May 15th of the current year)

Prospective Interns should have:

  • A demonstrated interest in social issues and identification with the values of FES.

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science or a related field (i.e. Development Studies, International Relations, Economics, Environmental Science, Peace and Conflict Studies, Law, etc.) or currently enrolled in a programme.

  • Strong written and oral English language skills. The ability to communicate fluently in English is indispensable.

  • Commitment to the political ideas and values of FES

  • Health insurance. Note: All interns from abroad are requested to arrange for an international health care insurance

  • Valid Visa (required for applicants from abroad)

  • Good German language skills and some prior knowledge of development and foreign policy and/or regional knowledge are conditions for an internship with us.
